KBOO reminds you to LOVE YOUR MOTHERS.
HAPPY MOTHERS NIGHT!
FRIDAY (tonight) from MIDNIGHT TIL 6:00 AM

Join us for KBOO's annual ALL NIGHT FREAKOUT -- a marathon debacle we present every Mothers Day weekend, a 6 hour tribute to Frank Zappa's seminal band of outcasts, visionary geniuses and cultural miscreants who threw their OFF THE GRID ugliness into America's face through the world of pop music. Always confounding record companies and the rock industry's "status quo", Zappa & The Mothers let nothing even come close to compromising their vision of an alternative reality to what AM or FM radio was telling the youth of America to believe, dress and dance like. The Mothers, if nothing else, encouraged young people to remember you have their own individual identity and to THINK FOR YOURSELF ("Drop out of school before your mind rots from exposure to our mediocre educational system. Forget about the Senior Prom and go to the library and educate yourself if you’ve got any guts." Zappa wrote in the liner notes to The Mothers 1966 debut and legendary world-changing record "FREAK OUT!")
TUNE IN FOR A 6 HOUR MARATHON AS HOSTS JIM, BEEL, AND VARIOUS OTHER MISFITS DELVE INTO THE MURKY WATERS OF THE MUSIC, INTERVIEWS, TV APPEARANCES AND OUTRAGEOUS ANTICS OF FRANK ZAPPA and his various MOTHERS bands, beginning in the early 1960s and beyond. Take a look at ANOTHER VIEW of America during the time of LBJ's "Great Society", assassinations, San Francisco's hippie explosion (a new conformity?) and the US's rise to a Theo-illogical corporate-controlled police state ("What will you do if the people you knew...Were the plastic that melted, And the chromium too? WHO ARE THE BRAIN POLICE?" from 1966' Freak Out!)
Leave your radio on tonight and sleep to your Mothers' loving voice. When you wake up, the name of YOUR CRIME will be carved on your back.
