Every year since 2004 the HI- Oregon Council’s Portland Hawthorne Hostel hosts a unique celebration of the wonders of bicycles with our Bike-In Movie event.  The Bike-In Movie is a free community event, open to the public and appropriate for all ages.

There will be live music by Chervona, a local musical explosion of Power Folk, Russian, Klezmer, Punk, Polka, and Dixieland.  There will also be a free BBQ dinner, a raffle to help us raise money for a new bike station, and, of course, a bicycle themed movie. More information on this group is available on their facebook site at:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Chervona/33628511541?sk=app_2405167945

This year we are pleased to present the critically acclaimed documentary

With My Own Two Wheels

, produced and co-directed by Jacob Seigel-Boettner from Berkeley CA.  This film weaves together the stories of five individuals from India, Ghana, Guatemala, Zambia, and California whose lives have been changed for the better through their access to bicycles.

The film has been officially selected by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, and Projecting Change Film Festival in Vancouver. With My Own Two Wheels was also nominated for the Social Justice Award in Documentary Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. www.withmyowntwowheels.org
