Tuesday, April 19th 11am on KBOO 90.7 FM, Host/Producer Dmae Roberts talks with Oregon author Jane Kirkpatrick. She's authored more than 20 books and is an Oregon Book award finalist for "A Flickering Light." Her latest is "The Daughter's Walk" which is based on the true story of a mother and daughter in 1896 who both walked from Spokane, Washington to New York City to save the family farm.
On Tuesday, April 5th at 11 am on KBOO 90.7 fm, host/producer Dmae Roberts features the Portland premiere of The Juliet Letters by fEARnoMUSIC, a 21st century classical ensemble. Dmae talks with three ensemble members: violinist Paloma Griffin, singer Holcombe Waller, and cellist Nancy Ives. We'll hear music from the group and clips from The Juliet Letters. We'll also hear about their Young Composers Project and future events.
The Portland Chamber Orchestra will perform Grigori Frid's The Diary of Anne Frank on Friday April 8th, Saturday April 9th, and Sunday April 10th 2011 in Portland Oregon. Conductor Yaakov (Yaki) Bergman and Soprano Ani Maldjian discuss the music and libretto for this opera with Yiddish Hour host Ed Kraus.
Host/Producer Dmae Roberts features the Portland Playhouse production of August Wilson's play Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. We'll be talking to Portland Playhouse's Kevin Jones, director,and actors Julianne Johnson and Wendell Wright. Dmae also checks in Mari Watanabe of Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center about their Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival event April 3rd at noon to help raise funds for disaster relief in Japan.
