Igor Stravinsky's iconic masterpiece is featured in this evening's program. Composed in 1918, Stravinsky based The Soldier's Tale on a Russian folk story, a parable about a soldier who swaps his violin in a deal with the devil for a book that predicts the future.

His newest work PRIMARY PERCEPTION (coming out soon on FLUFF & GRAVY- the local family-run label run by the wild children known as Aryana, Jarvi, Cash and Maybelle and their willing parents Jennifer, John, Chad and Juniana) is being received enthusiastically by the press and media, and he will be playing his CD release next week around the corner from KBOO studios, at the DRUG FIR. Nick likes playing there. Maybe you will go.

Tune in this Saturday for a great couple hours of Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers and more. I'll start things off by featuring an amazing segemnt from 10.18.72 at the Fox Theater in St.Louis. Read about that show here.

Then we'll turn to the recent Allman Brothers run at the Beacon Theater in New York. They opened things up to honor Jimi Hendrix and his 70th birthday by playing 1983(A Merman I Should Turn To Be) > Mountain Jam > 1983 > Mountain Jam. 

We'll also be giving away some tickets as always.

Lauren Sheehan plays from an old Songster tradition, combining blues, country, folk, ballads and standards.  She is a 2012 Portland Music Award winner for outstanding achievement in Folk,  was accepted in the Library of Congress as part of the MusicBox project and the success of her 3rd and latest CD, Rose City Ramble, #8 on the folk radio annual chart for 2011, attest to her growing talent and reputation as an artist and performer of note. Lauren will talk and play music from her new CD “The Light Still Burns”.

Tune in on 4/20 for a fantastic show. I've got some Dead from the Crystal Ballroom back when they were just kids in 1968. Then we head off to Philly for 4/20/84, with a ripping version of scarlet>fire. After our faces melt we then visit some friends in the form of Phish, Widespread Panic and Yonder Mountain String Band. You're not gonna wanna miss this one.
