Sub-Human Intellect Theater

Sub-Human Intellect Theater returns to KBOO on November 10!

KBOO’s core values are based on empowering the community, to provide a platform; giving a voice to the voiceless. These are the principles on which this station was founded. On July 14, I set aside my usual antics in order to tackle the serious subjects of domestic abuse and injustice. The best way to take on these unpleasant topics is to find someone who has lived through these atrocities and have them tell their story in a way that is not harmful to that person’s psyche. As a radio theater program, we staged intense re-enactments and had frank discussions regarding the material. At no point did I question the validity of what we were doing, and I certainly did not think that the station would be at risk for airing it. And, although the final version that aired was not as I imagined it would be, all that mattered was that the victim, an abuse survivor, finally felt empowered to tell her story. When I return to air in November, I will continue to follow KBOO’s core values, but I will use this downtime to re-evaluate how I go about doing that.

Thank you for listening, and I hope you will all tune in on November 10, when I return to the air. Until then, you can follow the show on Facebook for all the latest news and clips from previous episodes, as well as stream full episodes on Mixcloud. And don’t forget to pledge your support to KBOO during their upcoming membership drive in October.
