An emergency rally to stop the expansion of NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement) was held in Portland. Organized by a number of local groups, the rally was held outside the Federal Building on Southwest Third.

A non-profit group in the city invited Mark Fenton, the host of the PBS series "America's Walking” and walkability expert, to speak to a sold-out crowd last night.
He’s also headed out around the city to see just how pedestrian-friendly the city is.

A large protest that blocked Independence Avenue in Washington D-C ended yesterday with the arrest of 59 people. Using bikes and non-violent methods the group of citizens successfully stopped traffic for two hours in protest of the war.
