Contemporary and Traditional folk music to start your day with a smile

Host: Jack Bohl (I usually host first Wednesday, I filled in for John today)

NOTE: KBOO was not broadcasting because of technical issues, but the program was recorded and can be heard here

I rode Amtrak from Vancouver, BC to Portland Monday so I featured train songs this morning. There's a LOT of songs about trains, with a great varietyh of styles and tempos. I picked more uptempo songs, many using instruments to simulate train whistles and trains rolling along the tracks. We crossed the border into Canada at Peace Arch Park in Blaine, WA, so I played a song Paul Robeson sang at the Peace Arch Concert on May 18, 1952. Paul loved performing in Canada, but the U.S. government would not allow him into Canada by the early 1950s. So speakers were mounted on flatbed trucks a few feet from the Canadian border and aimed into Canada. The audience for the 1952 concert was estimated to be around 40,000! I hope you enjoy the music as much I do.
