Air date:

Tonight's "Paula's Picks" is a year-end celebration full of MUSIC, as well as a short story celebrating Kwanzaa, a holiday tradition, not often acknowledged on the airwaves.

Also, featured guest will be Monsters of Accordion's Jason Webley!

With squeezeboxes strapped to their chests, the Monsters of Accordion are launching an assault on West Coast cities from Seattle to Los Angeles this December. The legendary Corn Mo, known for his work with Ben Folds, They Might Be Giants and The Bindlestiff Family Circus, fills the room with his epic voice and inimitable original songs. Pink-haired accordion pin-up goddess Renée de la Prade squeezes punk rock power into Celtic and zydeco melodies as she pounds the floorboards and pumps her low-slung button box. Just back from Serbia, The Petrojvic Blasting Company have burnt venues to the ground across Europe and North America with their fiery young take on Balkan gypsy music. They are joined by infamous accordion howler, Jason Webley, who organizes the annual tour and is known around the world for his gigantic voice, his frenzied squeezebox playing and the ability to make any room of strangers throw their arms around each other and sing their hearts out.

For more information on these independent artists, please visit the Monsters of Accordion's website:

Keep your ears tuned to the dial 90.7 FM Portland or on-line at K-B-O-O dot F-M for a chance to win a pair of tickets. The Monsters of Accordion play at the Kennedy School here in Portland, on Thursday, December 16th and YOU and a friend can win tickets!

Listen up!

Tonight's show had music, music and more music, but also featured Shihan the Poet.

Shihan is best known for makin' folks think with his words. Sometimes, he puts his words to music & he collaborated with the diva on the rise, Gina Loring. The result? Magic.

Also, we learned about Oregon's Long-Term Care Ombudsman program from Gretchen Jordan, Volunteer Coordinator and LTCO volunteer, Tom Comfort. They shared information about the amazing work done by only 6 staff and 140 volunteers for the ENTIRE state of Oregon.

For more information on Oregon's Long-Term Care Ombudsman program, please visit:
