Short Description:
A look at the state of homelessness today through the voices of homeless people and organizers

KBOO is proud to broadcast the 18th Annual Homelessness Marathon, which will originate from Washington, DC this year.

The hosts on the air will be Pacifica radio WPFW.  Hosts on the ground will be the Church Of the Epiphany, which reaches out to DC's homeless as part of its ministry, and also Street Sense, the homeless paper of DC, which is housed in the church. The program will include the voices of a diverse cross section of Washington's homeless.

The Marathon gathers homeless people, talks with them all night, while taking calls from around the country and talking to experts, advocates, and politicians.

Originating from our nation's capitol in an election year is a big deal for the Marathon.  Organizers want to do some special things in honor of the occasion.  One of these is this petition to HUD:

The petition calls upon HUD to withdraw ALL aid from any city that does not have a safe space for ALL its homeless residents, where their persons, property and rights will be fully protected.
