Interviews with duff Bagley on the Shelton biomass project and NWF's Ryan Salmon on the 2000 m pipe.

A National Wildlife Federation Report out this week warns that a massive 2000 mile pipeline is …Well..in the pipeline.  The risky venture would run through five states, Montana, S. Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas  bringing with it all the same set of factors that contributed to the Deepwater Horizon disaster.   The planned pipe is sub-standard to say the least:  very large, very thin walls and high pressure all carrying tar sands from Canada to refineries on the Gulf of Mexico...Sound good?  Get this:  the company, Transcanada is attempting to get the Department of Transportation to sign off on and thus evade the tricky business of permiting.   Seems more and more of these schemes are cropping up while the Feds and the private sector fight over who's going to pay for the clean-up in the Gulf of Mexico.  Take a look at www.nwf.org/tar sands.

Closer to home, in fact just North of us in Shelton, Washington, the transnational behemoth AGAGE is trying to fire up a biomass plant that would consume over 600 thousand tons of woods a year...Think about it:  that's a goodsized forest every month up in smoke  the website to look at is www.climatesos.org.
