The Portland Plan:  Equity, Civic Engagement & Quality of Life Technical Action Group, would like to invite you to the: Action Area Work Session TONIGHT from 6:00-8:00 PM  at The Portland Building, located at 1120 SW 5th Avenue – 2nd Floor, Room C.  The staff will be sharing a first draft of objectives that set the direction for how to address where Portlanders want to be in the future in regards to overall Equity, Civic Engagement and Quality of Life.  Your review and comments on this initial work will help them make revisions and prepare for the next round of public workshops set for late April and May.  If you want to learn more about the Portland Plan, visit the web at PDXPLAN.com  or call 503-823-6806.

LettuceGrow Garden Foundation, is a nonprofit that places organic vegetable gardens within Oregon prisons.  After a successful first season in their first prison site at Coffee Creek prison for women in Wilsonville, they’re being given the opportunity to expand now into at least five other sites this year.The benefits to the inmates is the gift of growing their own food to enhances life physically, emotionally, socially, and they value it more too, because they were invested in its production. If a picture paints a thousand words, how better to help change the face of aging than through a photo contest? Elders in Action, a non-profit organization in Portland is currently running their second annual benefit photo contest, Lifetime Reflections.  Deadline is 5:30 pm April 16, 2010.  The purpose is to inspire people to think about older adults in positive ways through the creativity of photography, and to raise funds for their Personal Advocate program.  Contestants are asked to send in a donation for up to 5 photos, and prizes will be awarded to the winners!  For entry details, visit the web at eldersinaction.org  or call 503-235-5474 for more information.
