This evening, the VOZ Worker Education project invites you to  a viewing and discussion of the documentary Farmingville, about the  hate-based attempted murders of two Mexican day laborers that catapulted a small Long Island town into national headlines, unmasking a new front line in the border wars: suburbia.  That's from 6-9 p.m this evening at the  MLK Worker's Center, 240 NE MLK Jr Blvd. There will be refreshments for purchase.

Also this evening, the Portland Central America Solidarity Committee invites you to a panel entitled The Race to the Bottom in Central America: water, mining, and CAFTA. You're invited to come learn about the impacts of multinational mining companies' activities in Latin American, including contamination of water supplies and deaths and disappearances of anti-mining activists, and what can be done about it.
Food and Folkloric dance start at 6 pm and the panel runs from 7 to 9 pm this evening at Musicians Hall, located at 325 NE 20th Avenue in Portland.

Another don't-miss lecture event tonight will feature author, activist, and organizer Paul Cienfuegos, who teaches that corporate rights and privileges are at the core of almost every environmental and social justice problem that we face.  This evening, you can hear him discuss the steps we can take toward dismantling corporate personhood. The lecture starts at 7:00 and will be followed at 8:30 by a reception. It all goes down at the Eliot Chapel of First Unitarian Church, located at 12th and SW Salmon in downtown Portland.

Tomorrow, Saturday the 27th, Portland's Japanese Garden invites you and yours to visit for free. The Garden, which has been called one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens in the world, sits above Washington Park at 611 SW Kingston Drive and will be open tomorrow from 10 AM to 4 PM.
