On his second day in Office, President Obama issued an executive order
to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay. As part of that order he gave
Secretary of Defense Gates thirty days to conduct a thorough review of
the prisoners held there and the conditions of their confinement.
All Prisoners were to have "Humane standards of confinement" in
conformity with all applicatable laws National and International. The report
was completed on time and was full of good news about the illegal prison and claimed it meets all the requirements of the Geneva Conventions. However, the Center for Constituional Rights , a civil liberties organization coordinating hundreds of attorneys representing the men locked in Guantanamo has issued their own report, one based on first hand accounts of Attorneys and prisoners. It sharply contradicts the governments assertions. It describes prisoners facing beatings, force feedings, sensory deprivation and more. Will Obama accept the Pentagon's report or will he look further?
