On august 6th, 1945, the United States dropped two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing 200,000 people. To commemorate the event, Eugene will have a community gathering. KBOO’s Robert Bancord has more.
In Portland, there will be also be a commemoration ceremony by the Oregon chapters of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and Physicians for social responsibility, The ceremony will be held from 6 pm-7pm at the Japanese American Historical Plaza in Waterfront Park.
