Tonight the Sierra Club will be hosting, “Paradise Faded: The Fight for Louisiana”, a film that analyzes the causes, effects, and solutions to wetland loss in coastal Louisiana, and illustrates the unique culture and ecology that are disappearing along the base of the Mississippi River as the federal government continues to stall restoration.  There will be a Q & A discussion: moderated by former Delta Chapter Chair and Gulf Coast resident Leslie March.  Red Beans and Rice will be served at 6:30 pm, the film starts at 7 at 1821 SE Ankeny Street in Portland.  More information about this FREE event at 503-319-1986.

Come celebrate Art Spark, a monthly mingling for artists of all sorts to meet, discuss, blather, applaud and plot the growth of art in Portland! The gatherings are held every 3rd Thursday at rotating venues.  Tonight's event, “Art on Alberta”, will be held from 5-7 pm at Vendetta, located at 4306 North Williams Avenue in Portland.  More information at http://www.portlandartspark.com

The 5th Annual Run for Congo Women takes place this Saturday, September 19th in Northwest Portland.  This run or walk event is a fundraiser and celebration of hope for the women and children in the Congo.   If you have a few hours available on Saturday, please consider volunteering your time.  There are a variety of volunteer positions open, ranging from set-up, to handing out t-shirts and ribbons at the finish line.  Please email Stephanie Bond burgerday@yahoo.com with your questions, interest and availability.
