New Orleans displaced must relocate:Toxic FEMA Trailers
Down in the Gulf coast, FEMA is planning to move an estimated thirty eight thousand households out of their trailers due to the presence of formaldahyde. This carcinogenic chemical is known to give off noxious fumes under hot and humid conditions and can contribute to respiratory problems.Late last month the Center for Disease Control finished a study indicating that the chemical was posing serious health risks to trailer residents.KBOO’s Katie Arrants spoke earlier today with Sakura Kone of the Common Ground Relief effort in New Orleans about FEMA’s new plan to move trailer residents into hotels rather than houses.
