Muslim Mother and Educator on Trump's Election

The election of Donald Trump has led to a sense of insecurity in minority communities across the country, amid numerous acts of vandalism, violence and expressions of hostility towards those communities.

American Muslims are just one demographic that has been lumped together and demonized.

Trump has repeatedly, if inconsistently, called for a ban on immigration to the US from Muslim-majority countries, surveillance of mosques, and encouraged and repeated negative generalizations of Muslims among his supporters.

This weekend, KBOO’s Sam Bouman spoke with Nihal Fahim, a mother of three from Redmond, Washington.

She coordinates an Islamic preschool in Redmond and shared her thoughts and experiences in the wake of the election of Donald Trump.

These are excerpts of the full interview, which will run at 5:45 PM tomorrow after the KBOO Evening News.
