Jon Gottshall's "Combine" Sellwood Bridges
Joseph Gallivan interviews Jon Gotshall [pronounced GOT-chall] and Megan Paetzhold [pronounced PAYT-sold] about their joint show called Counterpoint at Gallery One Fourteen.

On Tuesday August 16, 2016 on Art Focus Joseph Gallivan interviews Jon Gotshall [pronounced GOT-chall] and Megan Paetzhold [pronounced PAYT-sold] about their joint show called Counterpoint at Gallery One Fourteen.

Gotshall talks about his night time photos as the new Sellwood Bridge replaces the old, and his technique for printing on mylar which gives the ink a painterly quality.

Paetzhold discusses her 12 minute loop projected photo show, which riffs off the sight disorder Amblyopia, in which the brain makes stereo vision mono.

She is a Parsons student in New York who is Gotshall’s former photography student at Beaverton Magnet School.

Runs through August 27

This show was recorded on August 6, 2016, and edited by KBOO volunteer Sam Parrish.

From the press release:

Two photographers present alternative views of their subjects and explore the nature of vision itself. In "Sellwood Bridges" Jon Gottshall captures a transformation of an iconic Portland bridge from dismantling to reconstruction, examining two eras of industrial design. Guest artist Megan Paetzhold looks at a reciprocal relationship between vision and photography in a two-channel video installation in her "Studies in Amblyopia."
