The Sixth Extinction, by Elizabeth Kolbert, is about the five catastrophic breaks in the history of life on earth and the sixth such catastrophe, which Kolbert maintains is now happening, and which we are already a few hundred years into. This the first of the great extinctions to be caused by a single species; global warming and the introduction of invasive species are both due to the overpopulation of the earth by humans.
