Are we having war yet?

Puritans from then Beginning...PuritansAmericans remain....Right to the bitter end,  as it appears.  We seem to be wading into another mid-east war.  Other people have sex; we have war.  David Swanson got it right:

President Barack Obama has signed a secret order authorizing U.S. support for rebels seeking to depose Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government, sources familiar with the matter said.   So, did the White House leak this patriotically, or did a whistleblower who thought we should know what crimes our dollars and names are involved in leak it treasonously? It matters, because we have to know whether to cheer or prosecute, don't we?   Obama's order, approved earlier this year and known as an intelligence "finding," broadly permits the CIA and other U.S. agencies to provide support that could help the rebels oust Assad.

But let's allow the  rest of the world go by:  First, Cascadia:

Green in the Gills - and not in a good way; or the bad way either, come to think of it:

A proposal to ban the use of nontribal commercial gillnets in the Columbia is on Oregon's November ballot.   Stop Gillnets Now is a group behind Measure 81.

Republican Representative  Kevin Cameron of Salem initially said he was giving up his role as the No. 2 Republican in the House due to personal reasons.    It came out yesterday that Cameron and six other Republicans visited a bar featuring topless dancers during a three-day trip to Palm Springs, Calif., in January.  The Oregonian coyly notes that No public or campaign money was spent on the trip. And hopefully no animals were harmed either...

Bullets apparently are okay - never mind the lead - when killing seaslions, so let's take the next step and ban pesticides:  Ready?   Here we go! Yesterday Northwest Environmental Advocates An environmental group is asking the state of Oregon to start controlling pesticides that kill salmon.
