Portland City council held a hearing last Wednesday to set water rates for the next fiscal year.

The Portland Water Bureau was asking for an eight point one percent rate increase on top of the fifty five percent increase over the past four years.

Some ratepayers have had enough and the normally staid chambers erupted into a shouting match when it was learned that public testimony was not to be taken.

KBOO’s Joe Meyer was at the hearing and filed this report.
