Water Bureau to Ask for Another Rate Increase
Portland city council meets tomorrow to set water rates for the fiscal year beginning July first.
Commissioner Leonard is asking for an eight point one percent rate increase - this on top of rate increases of fifty five percent since two thousand and eight.
Citizen and business groups are calling foul, citing unnecessary pet projects and the on-going funding of vacant Portland Water Bureau positions.
