a full hour interview with Ali Abunimah, author of The Battle for Justice in Palestine

This One Land Many Voices show, with guest Ali Abunimah, commemorates the Nakba, the ethnic cleansing of over 750,000 Palestinians from historic Palestine which began in 1947-48 and continues to this day.  Ali is the author of One Country: A Bold Proposal to End the Israeli Palestinian Impasse, and his recently released book, The Battle for Justice in Palestine.  He is also co-founder and director of the widely acclaimed Electronic Intifada.  Through his extensive writings and talks, Ali has been actively engaged in the movement for justice in Palestine for over 20 years. He is the recipient of a 2013 Lannan Cultural Freedom Fellowship.

Ali discusses many of the issues he takes on in The Battle for Justice in Palestine - the shifting tides of the politics of Palestine and Israel that make a compelling case for why the struggle for justice in Palestine will ultimately win; placing the Palestinian struggle in the larger movement for justice; and the evolving discourse within the left on the Palestinian struggle.  He deconstructs the “right” for Israel to exist as a Jewish state because that “right” can only be exercised by violating the fundamental individual rights of Palestinians.  There is also a discussion of BDS and the many civil society and campus initiatives around the world that are bravely ushering in a new era of global grass-roots organizing for justice.
