This Fall Membership Drive installment of Africa Oyé will feature exclusively music of Mali, West Africa from Kanaga System Krush. KSK is an independent record label, operating on a fair-trade principle, focused on the preservation and promotion of traditional music from West Africa. By bringing this music to the world market, KSK is opening new channels to an old tradition, as well as providing direct support to the carriers of this ancient knowledge. KSK has produced and released ten albums over the last five years, and on today's program you will hear selections from most of them, including the latest from Lobi Traore, "Bwati Kono", copies of which will be offered as thank-you gifts for new or renewing KBOO members who pledge during the show.
