Boomcracklefly features a female impersonator in New York who falls in love with a revolutionary scientist while two acrobat sisters in Key West encounter the ghost of Ernest Hemingway.

Meanwhile an architect in Havanna builds wings to fly away from his pregnant wife. These three worlds collide in this original play blending science fiction with magical realism.

The show runs March 25-April 16 at Miracle Theatre at 525 SE Stark Street in Portland.

Ruby Murray

In our fourth Writers Read segment, we'll hear from Ruby Murray, a writer and photographer who lives in the Columbia River estuary. She is an enrolled Osage Indian, whose work focuses on people finding home within multiple cultures. She’s come to know the River and its history through her 1st generation Norwegian-American husband. A poem and photo-essay reflecting life on the Lower River was published in American Ghost, edited by Lillien Waller for Stockport Flats, 2011.

And in the final portion of the show, we hear from Mari Watanabe, executive director of Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center about their how they've changed their focus on the Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival at the Japanese American Historical Plaza (Couch & Naito Parkway) event on April 3rd at 3pm to help raise funds for disaster relief in Japan.
