Sandy Ridge Trail System and the magic elves that made it.

What was five years ago an underused chunk of Bureu of Land Management, the Sandy Ridge Mountainbike Trail System has become one of the priemier mountain biking destinations in the Pacific Northwest. This month we take a look at how a simple idea met a gaping recrational need that has become one of the most sustainable and heavily used trail systems in Oregon.

As part of this story, we'll be talking with The Ant Farm, a non profit in the Sandy area which offered "The might of one and the power of many" to transform the trails from gashes in the earth to gorgeous, smooth singletrack ready to make bike riding a rollercoaster of fun. Most of this work was completed by teens in their YouthCore Workforce Development Program, that put their hands, heads and hearts together to create trails that, well, shred.

We'll be joined by Adam Milnor, Outdor Recreation Planner from the Bureau of Land Management, Tom Slovak. trailbuilder from the Northwest Trail Alliance and Sam Hardy, Ant Farm Workforce Development Supervisor as well as one of the "ants" that brought the trail to fruition.
