Short Description:
Egyptian Uprising: Implications and Lessons

We invite your calls as we reflect upon the amazing events in Egypt.  What are the lessons that we can learn from this revolution?  Call in and share your thoughts.

Contrary to popular media, the uprising was not a sudden upheaval, but the results of years of careful planning and commitment to disciplined nonviolent strategic action.  For an important report on the history of the rebellion, please see the report on the Fellowship of Reconciliation website.  This short documentary aired on Al Jazeera, gives an insider's view of the nonviolent campaign:

It is interesting that the Wall Street Journal published an article about the campaign's effective organizing.  See

Here are a couple of music videos about the uprising:

Hamza Namira's song Ehlam Ma'aya (Dream with Me) has been adopted to this moving video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHZbZm69PCE

We All Shall Be Free by Jasir X and M1 of Dead Prez:

Perhaps the following words from Hamza Namira's song will inspire us.

Dream with me, Of a tomorrow that’s coming, And if it doesn’t come, We’ll bring it ourselves. We’ll stride upon this path, Our many footsteps will lead us to our dream.
