Community Spotlight: Washington County Museum

Portland is the "golden child" city of Oregon. Praised for its commitment to diversity, culture and arts.

But, often overlooked is the diverse cultural enrichment AND scientific exploration in nearby Hillsboro.

Join host, Paula Small, as she welcomes guests from the Washington County Museum to discuss all things, cultural and scientific, happening at the Museum. Washington County Museum recently re-located to downtown Hillsboro to empower all visitors complete access to the MAX station (Blue Line) and the Museum.

She also welcomes guest, John Laursen, Executive Director of the Northwest Photography Archive. He will discuss his special slideshow presentation at the Museum next Wednesday, December 5th. The presentation includes historic photographs from his recently published book, Wild Beauty: Photographs of the Columbia River Gorge, 1867 - 1957.

For more information about the Wild Beauty presentation, click here.

The Museum's new space also made it possible to expand its other cultural and educational offerings, resulting in a large home for the Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe exhibit, as well as the acclaimed exhibit Americans All: The Bracero Program in Washington County. Both exhibits are happening right now!

Whether you enjoy space, the rich history of Hillsboro (and Oregon), or you're like me and enjoy exploring as much as possible, you'll be glad to tune in TONIGHT at 7 pm to learn more about one of Oregon's best-kept secrets: the Washington County Museum.

The Washington County Museum's exhibits are located inside the Hillsboro Civic Center in downtown Hillsboro at 120 E. Main Street.
