Tillicum Wawa on 11/11/10

Air date:
Thu, 11/11/2010 - 6:00pm - 7:00pm
Short Description:
Tillicum Wawa

"Tillicum Wawa" is Chinook jargon for "The People Speak." The program will present interviews from local indigenous peoples, indigenous peoples around the world, as well as news, views, updates on sacred site issues, etc. The program is meant to show that Indians are still alive today, and have many different facets. "Tillicum Wawa" we hope will connect Indians to one another as well as to non-indigenous people. This evening's program features an interview with Robert Miller, author of "Discovery of Indigenous Lands," about the Doctrine of Discovery in Western European colonization.

Robert J. Miller is a professor at Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon, where he teaches Indian law courses and other classes. He is the chief justice of the Court of Appeals for the Grand Ronde Tribe and sits as a judge for other tribes, and is a citizen of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma.  More info at: www.lclark.edu/law/faculty/robert_miller/website/

Also, local Indian music, and "The Angry Indian Minute."  Hosted by Shushli, Eugene, and Redwillow.
