Pendulum Aerial Arts & Cymbeline at NWCTC

Tuesday, April 12 at 11 am on KBOO 90.7 FM, Host/Producer Dmae Roberts presents the second Pushing Boundaries piece, this time featuring Pendulum Aerial Arts with artistic director Suzanne Kenney. Founded in 2000, Pendulum's innovative performances blend dance, drama, and storytelling with a circus flair. We'll also find out about NW Classical Theatre Company's production of Shakespeare's 'Cymbeline' and we'll have another Writers Read, this time a poem by Sandra de Helen.

 Producer Macon Reed with Dmae Roberts presents a sound collage profile on Pendulum Aerial Arts. Pendulum is both a performance company and a school. The company is made up of a core members, guest artists, and apprentices whose work crosses a variety of styles, from vaudeville to contemporary. Pendulum also offers classes to youth who want to learn circus artistry.

"Pure Space" 

They have several shows in April including hands-on at their Second Annual Community Day and Student Showcase on Sunday April 17. Pendulum presents a full show, "In the Studio",  on Saturday April 22 and 23. It features new works by company members. Both events are at the French American International School. Later in the show, Dmae talks with Grant Turner, the executive director of the Northwest Classical Theatre Company about the upcoming performance of Shakespeare's Cymbeline. We'll also find out what happening next season at NWCTC. Cymbeline tells the story of Imogen, the daughter of King Cymbeline. It's a fairy tale complete with an evil stepmother, a kidnapped princess, disguises, and a poisoned vial. Cymbeline runs April 22 - May 15 at the Shoe Box Theater, 2110 SE 10th Ave. For more information about the show or to purchase tickets, check out the NWCTC website. Finally,writer  Sandra de Helen reads a poem for the fifth installment of Writer's Read. De Helen is a playwright, actor, author, and poet. Her work includes everything from novels and short stories to operas to radio dramas.
