'Conversations'
Change is coming. Fifteen minutes is a strange island in time. Andy Warhol famously reminded everyone tha t everyone gets fifteen minutes of fame. Fame of course is not on the 'Air Cascadia' agenda.
So here's the change: KBOO is a treasure trove of extraordinary wonders, there is the News, The Public Affair, the Music and beyond. But it tends to be an echo chamber. Listeners hear largely material they agree with. There is no controversy. So I am proposing that each day, each episode Of AC, I launch a topic from the news. I may or may not invite a guest to join us. But what we are going to do is invite callers to weigh in. We will caution Caller #1 to be brief, allow our guest and/or our Caller #2 to speak and stay on the subject. One other caller will be invited to call in and disagree with Caller # 1. Caller #2 does not necessarily need to personally espouse the contrary position. Caller #2 must simply dispute Caller #1's position.
'Cascadia Conversations' will be surprising for all concerned for countless reasons. The idea is to break out of the KBOO echo chamber and offer listeners a forum for dissent, wit and the unexpected.
Two callers. One topic. Opposite points of view ...
