Greetings Cascadia! My name is Steve, and this is the KBOO Community Calendar for Wednesday, July 29th, 2009.

As temperatures reach into the triple digits this week, The Hollywood Senior Center Remains OPEN as a Cooling Center for Seniors, aged 55 or older, thru Thursday evening.  The center will be open from 8:30a.m to 8:00 p.m. on July 29 and 30. Beverages and snacks will be provided for those seeking a break from the excessive heat.  A nightly movie will show at 5:30pm. The Hollywood Senior Center is located at 1820 NE 40th in Portland.  Their phone number is 503.288.8303.

Portland Parks and Recreation continues their Summer Concerts in the Park all across the city this month and next.  See the KBOO Web Site for a link to the 2009 Concert Schedule.  Tonight's concert is at Willamette Park at, 6:30 PM (SW Macadam & Nebraska, south picnic area).  Come and watch The Troublemakers for some Racous Rock and Roll.  Or, if you like your Music more on the Soul side, then visit Dawson Park at 6:30 PM for Linda Hornbuckle, Portlands Premier Diva of Rhythm and Blues.  Dawson Park is at N. Stanton & Williams.

The Portland Central American Solidarity Committee meeting is tonight at 7pm at Liberty HallPCASC is a grassroots organization that strives to educate and mobilize community members, workers and students around struggles for human rights, social justice, and immigrant rights  throughout the Americas.
