The Voices in our Heads

The question that hung in the air, after police in the little redneck town of Sanford, Florida, gunned down 17 year-old Trayvon Martin, at last is answered.  Trayvon was, of course, African-American (You just knew it; the hoody spoke volumes…indeed)

And George Zimmerman is white (Or ‘Hispanic’, if you are playing ‘Dee-fence’).

Trayvon had a soda, not a gun, - or even a telephone receiver.

The ‘voices’ in Mr. Zimmerman got there thanks to America’s current obsession with Fear: terrorism, secrecy, privacy, identity theft, drones, guns, designer drugs, processed foods, “germs”,  bullying, cyberspying, Chinese cyberspies, Xanax, no Xanax…

The town of Sanford wound up with a small memorial and a new police chief.

Come April 29th, a judge could grant immunity to Zimmerman at the pre-trial hearing, thanks to the American Legislative Exchange Council.   under Florida's controversial Stand Your Ground law, which allows people to use lethal force in self defense if they are in fear of serious bodily harm.
