Greetings Cascadia! My name is Steve, and this is the KBOO Community Calendar for Wednesday, June 17th, 2009.
Are you interested in Portland's Climate Action Plan?  The City of Portland is holding the first of two Transition PDX Climate Action Plan Forums tonight, Wednesday, June 17, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at St. Francis Church (in the dining hall, north side entrance), 1182 SE Pine, Portland. The City wants YOUR input, and hopes you will be part of this vital public feedback process as we prepare our communities for a resilient low carbon future.  That's tonight, at St. Francis Church, at 7:00 PM.
The Belmont Library invites you to Celebrate Summer with Emily Dickinson's Poetry, tonight from 6:30 until 7:30 PM.  Dickinson wrote more poems about summer than any other season.  Read your favorite seasonal Dickinson poem, or any other poem you love that honors this lovely time of year!  That's at the Belmont Library, 1038 S.E. 39th Ave, tonight at 6:30.  All ages are welcome.
The National Lawyers Guild, the ACLU of Oregon, and the the Oregon Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society are sponsoring an evening seminar entitled "Civil Liberties Under the Obama Administration: Are We Still at Risk?" tonight at 7:00 PM.  The event is free and will be held at the Portland State University Urban Center's Second Floor Gallery, 506 SW Mill.  The seminar will cover continuing issues of race, preventive detention, the Obama administration's plans for Guantanamo detainees, and ethnic and religious profiling.  For more information contact Mark Kramer: 503.243.2733
