Interviews with Friends of the Reservoirs, Shahid Buttar at BORDC on the Defense Bill & Farmer Brown

Friends of the Reservoirs is cautiously celebrating a rare - as in: unheard of prior to this time and this place - variance to EPA regulations concerning urban drinking water sources.  It has been a hard-won victory but it's too soon to take off the gloves:  Because the means of testing the actual water are so flawed as to be useless.

And just when most anchors, media talking heads, et al had learned how to pronounce 'cryptosporidium'.  Ahh well...Iranian president Ahmadinejad is still in the news, so there's always that.

But I digress.  There is a public meeting coming up on December 14th to which you can show up with any last minute "stocking stuffers" you might want to add to the language along with any points you might want to make regzarding the 'like, you know, like, the wording, like' of the final package.  This is just too important to screw up when we are so close to really accomplishing something.  Friends of Reservoirs deserve our collective "thanks and praise", as they say at the Church-of-your-Choice.

And another self-determination matter, this one Way down East in Maine is similar in spirit and similarly deserves attention.  I'm speaking of course about the Farmer Dan Brown lawsuit which appears to be lumbering through the court system in all its one-cow ludicrous majesty.  Despite a citizen-backing Food Sovereignty Ordinance the state is suing Farmer Brown for selling raw millk.  Not that the milk has ever sickened anyone, not that Brown poses a threat to the food supply and not that Agribusiness isn't interested - Well the first two anyway.  Because the Food Safety and Modernization Act is all about protecting profits for the Big Guys.  And Food Sovereignty POrdinances are vexatious little hurdles standing between Agriculture and the last drop in the bottle.
