First Harvest is a new new NEW craft community kitchen that combines two of Portland’s favorite things: collaborative space and cooking.  And First Harvest will celebrate its grand opening this evening witha pizza-making party and community meetup in honor of the first annual national Food Day. Drop in any time from 6 to 9 pm at First Harvest, located at  915 NE Alberta St.  in Porltand.

Also this evening in Portland, the Feminist Film Society invites you to their monthly screening and discussion.This month’s feature is the musical comedy  The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Movie starts at 7 at In Other Words, located at 14 NE Killingsworth in Portland.

Then tomorrow morning, Jobs with Justice is heading up a march from Portland to Vancouver to give these two communities a chance to stand up together for good jobs and no cuts to Social Security and Medicaid. You can join them in Portland at 11 AM the field just off of Northbound I-5 Exit 308, accessible by Tri-Met bus #6... or you can join the rally at noon at  Esther Short Park is at West 6th and Esther Streets in Downtown Vancouver.

The East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District will host an awesome all-day community event called Water! 2011:explore • learn • save.  Workshop topics include    Planting Trees for Clean Rivers,  Biking Safely in the Rain, Sanitation After a Disaster, Why Portland Needs Groundwater, and many many more. No need to register: just show up between 10 and 3 at Humboldt School, up at 4915 N Gantenbein in Portland

And tomorrow in Southeast Portland, Our Happy Block and Dapave invite you to a fun day in the dirt. These community organizations have been working all year to improve safety and liveability in their neghborhood, and tomorrow they’ll be planting native plants at the new green space at 8040 SE Woodstock. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and Depave will provide all the necessary tools and gloves. Dress for the weather and show up any time after 9 am. Again, that’s at 8040 SE Woodstock in Portland.
