 Today's Healthwatch features talks by two speakers who will be featured at the upcoming professional speakers series "Enhancing Health with Plant-Based Nutrition" at Adventist Medical Center and at the NorthWest VegFest at the Convention Center, Amy Joy Lanou and Dr. Neal Barnard.

Dr. Amy Joy Lanou, Ph.D., is a senior nutrition scientist with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and an assistant professor of health and wellness for the University of North Carolina-Asheville (UNCA). Dr. Lanou is the author of "Building Bone Vitality: A Revolutionary Diet Plan to Prevent Bone Loss and Reverse Osteoporosis" and "Healthy Eating for Life for Children."

Neal Barnard is the founder and president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). Dr. Barnard is also president of The Cancer Project, a nonprofit organization advancing cancer prevention and survival through nutrition education and research. Dr. Barnard is the author of "Dr. Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes" and the recently released "21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart"

Dr. Lanou's talk was recorded at Barnes & Noble (Lloyd Center) from April 2002. Dr. Barnard's talk was recorded at the old Northwest Neighborhood Cultural Center from Feb. 1999.
