City of Portland terminates contract with FHCO
The city of Portland has severed its contract with the Fair Housing Council of Oregon after challenging an audit made by the group last May. That audit found large-scale discrimination by race by landlords in Portland. But now, Commissioner Nick Fish and others in the city have challenged the methodology used in the audit. The Fair Housing Council stands by its findings, which showed that African-American and Latino renters were frequently quoted higher rents and move-in costs than white renters.
