The White House has threatened to veto the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act. The administration has raised concerns with multiple sections of the 925 page bill, however, the main objections seem to differ depending on who is reporting on the issue. According to the Army times, the White House expressed concerns regarding the transfer of Guantanamo detainees and the implementation of a Nuclear Arms Reduction Treaty; ABC News focused on controversy surrounding the development of an F35 striker engine. What seems to be lost in the fray is the objection to language in section 1034 of the Bill, which extends the President's authority to conduct anti terrorism operations. Chris Andrea spoke with David Fidanque, the Executive Director of Oregon's chapter of the ACLU.
