Henry Selick: Coraline's 'Other Father'

Stop-motion animator Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas) spent more than three years bringing the Neil Gaiman story Coraline to the big screen.  On the eve of Coraline's world premiere at the Portland International Film Festival, Selick sits down with S.W. Conser to talk about art, commerce, and the future of hand-crafted animation.

Thanks to Conch for scoring this excellent interview! Willammette Week can write about local stuff, but on KBOO, we get to hear the artist talk in depth about his work.

Conch has such wide knowledge in animation, it's easy for him to keep the interview interesting for the audience, and take it to a level of geekiness that pleases the artist too.

and as a radio interview, I loved the clips from the film and the interview with the two british comedians.. where did you get all that stuff? makes the interview itself seem a little more dimensional.

And where can we see the movie locally in 3-D, after the film festival?
