Here comes your community calendar for this weekend,  October 16 and 17.

The community and Resistance Tour will be in Portland this Sunday. This tour seeks to connect communities, and to build relationships between grassroots activists and independent media. Join local artist Mic Crenshaw and award-winning journalist Jordan Flaherty to talk about post Katrina New Orleans and other current struggles for justice and liberation. Clark County used to be a fruit growing area, well known for abundant and
gorgeous apple trees. Come sample 200 of them this sunday at the HEIRLOOM APPLE TASTING & OLD APPLE TREE IDENTIFICATION.  If you have a mysterious old apple tree in your yard bring a half dozen apples, unwashed, and local experts will identidy them. 28th Annual Hood River Valley Harvest Fest is this weekend.  Visitors can taste fresh, local produce, and fully experience an authentic autumn festival overlooking the beautiful Columbia River. There will be tons of fresh produce, locally made art, a kids’ zone, food, Wine tastings, Music,  and plenty of pie! the harvest fest is this saturday from 10 to 9 and sunday 10 to five in Hood River.

BLUE GOLD: WORLD WATER WARS is a documentary that sheds light on the world’s rapidly approaching water crisis and suggests that wars of the future will be fought over water, as the source of all life enters the global marketplace and political arena. There will be a free, all ages showing of the film this sunday at the bagdad theater, doors at 5pm, shows at 6.
