PORTLAND, OREGON — Join the revolution! KBOO is proud to co-sponsor a special event hosted by Veterans For Peace (VFP) and Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) on Thursday evening, August 4, at the First Congregational Church located at SW Park and Madison on the Park Blocks near PSU. The evening line-up features popular folk-rock group Emma’s Revolution and keynote speaker Blase Bonpane, Los Angeles radio host, author and long-time student of revolutionary struggles around the world.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the program begins at 7:30 p.m. A sliding-scale donation of $10 to $25 is requested at the door, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. For guaranteed, preferred seating, tickets may be reserved online at emmasrevolution.com.

This special event is part of the concurrent national conventions of the two peace-veterans groups being held August 4-7 in Portland. In addition to a full convention package, Veterans For Peace is offering one- and two-day registration to veterans, military family members and allies. Tickets are also available for the VFP Saturday night banquet, featuring keynote by Kathy Kelly, known for her work in Iraq and Afghanistan with Voices for Creative Nonviolence. Films and other selected presentations are free and open to the public. Find more information at vfpnationalconvention.org or call Becky Luening, local convention organizer, at 503-774-9197.
