The Skanner Foundation's 2014 Martin Luther King Breakfast

Each year the Skanner organizes an inspiring presentation honoring the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and highlights the good work of people making a difference in the community.  This event raises scholarship money for local high-school students who are seeking higher education.

This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Bruce Goldberg, Oregon Health Authority director recently tapped as temporary executive director of CoverOregon. Goldberg is a family medicine physician who has spent his professional career in various areas of public health service. Goldberg was key in the formation of the Oregon Health Authority, permanently appointed as the director by Gov. John Kitzhaber in February of 2011.  He was a faculty member at Oregon Health and Science University for more than 15 years; he is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and completed his family medicine training at DukeUniversity.
