Dr. Michael Parenti provides a critique of capitalism as the driving logic of empire, which motivates global exploitation and growing inequality everywhere. While contemporary economics typically defends the benefits of free-market capitalism, Parenti argues that global capitalism is run by and for transnational corporations. While any good that exists within the Capitalist State is the result of hard won labor and democratic struggles against the owners of Capital.

Michael Parenti received his Ph.D. in political science from Yale University in 1962. He has written well over 20 books, many of which have been translated into over 18 languages. He serves on the board for Project Censored, as well as on the editorial boards of New Political Science and Nature, Society and Thought. Parenti focuses on American politics and US foreign policy, and he directly indicts the US government as the central administrator of global capitalism today.
