KBOO welcomes you to our springtime open house and live in-studio performance of Mama C, Saturday, March 21st, 1 – 5 pm.

Tour the KBOO studios and meet your community! Share refreshments and talk with other listeners, program hosts, volunteers and KBOO staff. See how our communities intersect and work together to create this amazing community radio station.

To make this afternoon even more special, Mama C -- an accomplished musician, poet and emcee -- will be sharing her story and a live performance at KBOO between 2pm and 3pm, on Yugen Rashad’s program, The Motif.  Some of you may have received a copy of "Our Soul Power" as a gift in our recent e-ask. This dynamic collaboration was recorded in Tanzania at Mama C's recording studio on the grounds of UAACC when KBOO's Mic Crenshaw visited Tanzania as part of the Afrikan Hiphop Caravan!

Mama C is a former Black Panther and political refugee who fled the U.S. in the early 1970's with her husband Pete O'Neal after their lives were threatened by law enforcement in a violently repressive political climate.

After more than 40 years in Tanzania where her and her husband have built the United African Alliance Community Center, Mama C returns to tour the U.S and share her inspiring story of resistance, self -determination and the revolutionary spirit of Africans fighting to be free by any means necessary.
