Snatam Kaur Tour 2013
CHANT ENCHANTRESS: an evening with Snatam Kaur
"I listen to Snatam Kaur everyday before meditating." -- Oprah Winfrey
The Snatam Kaur Tour 2013 officially launched in Boulder, Colorado in February as a sonic celebration of sacred sound. The music is meant to lead audiences on a heart-opening journey, whereby souls are re-aligned with love, light, and companssion.
Snatam Kaur accompanies herself on harmonium - an Indian Pump Organ - playing also the violin and guitar, and is joined by a collective of enlightened musicians, including: tabla player and percussionist, Ramesh Kannan; and guitarist and composer, Todd Boston. These players are said to be deeply attuned to each other, as well as the energy of their audiences.
Her divinely melodic songs are based on traditional Sikh mantras to which Snatam adds her own lyrics in English. Her simple, heartfelt verses express the personal meanings that these sacred syllables hold for her and help the audience forge their own emotional connection with the music. Most of the songs are done in call-response, kirtan-style - Snatam sings a line, and the audienc sings it back. Snatam is also known to lead the group in Pranayama (yogic breathing) or to get everyone on their feet for stretching exercises that become sacred dance. There are always plenty of jokes and laughter, as well.
This event is produced by Winged Heart Productions with the help of Living Earth, and is sponsored by KBOO Community Radio.
