From Place-to-Place Documentary

Thu, 05/16/2013 - 6:00pm - 8:45pm

Boys and Girls Aid honors Foster Care Awareness Month with two screenings of the documentary, "From Place to Place"

This film follows the lives of three young adults who recently aged-out of the foster care system.  Rather than being connected with one permanent, life-long family as children, these men were bounced between foster familes, group homes, residential treatment centers, and the street.  Despite the best efforts of extremely hard-working and well-intentioned professionals, the system failed them.  Now, through this compelling documentary, these courageous young adults attempt to improve the system for the next generation of youth in foster care.

Following the screening, a panel of foster youth and parents from Oregon will share their experiences.  A time of questions from the audience and answers from the panel, as well as foster parent information, will be provided.

There are two screenings of this documentary at separate locations:

Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Q-Center Gallery; 4115 N. Mississippi Avenue, Portland

Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Oregon Foster Youth Connection Resource Center; 1209 SE Belmont Street, Portland

A five-dollar ($5.00) DONATION at the door is suggested.

This event is sponsored by Boys and Girls Aid and KBOO Community Radio.
