Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. December 7, 1964 London
More Talk Radio is off today.

As the world is celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we present this special program from the Pacifica Radio Archives, the newly discovered public address by Dr. King, delivered on December 7th, 1964 in London, just 1 day before he left for Oslo to accept his Nobel Peace Prize.

A group called Christian Action invited Dr. King to address a London audience on the topic of South Africa in early 1964. When Dr. King was notified that he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, he decided to combine these two events on the same trip.

Pacifica European Correspondent Saul Bernstein was there to record what we think is the only recording in existence of the entire speech.

We are fortunate to bring this recording to you at all because it s discovery was really by chance, when Director Brian DeShazor was going through bins of uncatelogued programs in December 2014.
