New Board Members Elected September 2014

The KBOO Board is very pleased to welcome its four newest directors, who were elected by Foundation members at the September 20th annual meeting.  Sekoynia Wright, Melissa Parsons, Raoul van Hall, and Jason Pretty Boy will officially take their seats on October 1st, and will help to elect new officers at the October 27th regular meeting of the Board, which the public is invited to attend.

Sekoynia Wright is a KBOO volunteer of four years, with experience in public affairs and news production and radio host for Ear To The Streets Of Portland.  Sekoynia very much looks forward to working with the other newly elected board members as well as the current seated board members in this new board cycle.  As she says and will continue to say: I hope I do our KBOO family and KBOO members proud with this very special responsibility."

As an avid KBOO listener and long-time sustaining member, Melissa Parsons is thrilled and honored to serve the KBOO community as an incoming Board member.  Melissa will draw from her experiences as a mother, HR professional, attorney, entrepreneur, small business owner, and an active member of Portland's Native community to make unique and valuable contributions to the KBOO board.  And she looks forward to bringing many more diverse perspectives to the table!

Raoul van Hall has been in radio since 1973.  During that time, he's been a DJ, program director, station manager, operations manager and producer for radio, most recently at OPB.  Raoul currently hosts Jazz from the Left on KMHD in Portland, and also currently hosts jazz programs for companies in Asia and in the Middle East, through his company Audio Arts LLC.

Jason Pretty Boy grew up in the wilds of southern Idaho listening to local station KBAR, which sparked his love affair with radio.  He volunteered as a board operator for KBAR, then hosted a Native American based program on community radio KLND in South Dakota, progressing first to program director then general manager at KLND.  Jason is a Lakota tribal member from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe who practice an open door policy in all his work, and hopes to bring an open mind and willing heart to the table at KBOO.
