Gathering of media activists this weekend in Portland
Host Paul Roland will talk with co-organizer Adam Carpinelli about this weekend's first annual Cascade Media Convergence.  Call in with your questions and comments at 503-231-8187.

From the Convergence website http://www.cascademedia.cc:

The Cascade Media Convergence will be a regional gathering of community based media organizations, journalists and artists taking place September 19th-21st at the University of Oregon, Turnbull Center in Portland, OR. The CMC will be a series of workshops, facilitated strategy sessions, and public events aimed at bringing together alternative and community media makers to network, share knowledge and skills, and discuss ways to continue collaboration and build toward a regional media coalition.

The weekend will be structured to include space for informational based workshops on media based movements of the past and present, skillshares where participants can learn practical media skills, strategy sessions for people working within the same medium (radio, video, print, etc.) in order to network and coordinate efforts on a regional level, and space to discuss proposals for particular media based projects or to develop a media strategy around a specific social justice campaign.
